Taxonomy: f. Plasmodidae
Animal: Plasmodium vivax 3 01.jpg
Sites: Blood
Comment:
Plasmodium vivax in native film with amoeboid trophozoite (P. vivax parasites are the most active of the human malarial parasites) - note large irregular shape with fine yellow - brown pigment and Schuffner's dots. Schuffner's dots are caveola-vesicle complexes when viewed with the EM and contain malarial antigens which may be associated with the growth of the parasite.
